First off I don't like this assignment. I think it is depressing to think of all of the resons why I do not like myself. However, I think that good work might exist inside of it, so I will give it a whirl.
*1. I wait for other people to motivate me. -I will breakdown projects into smaller chunks. -I will take the first step. then the next. so on. *2. I get stuck looking for approval from others -I will work to affirm myself, and compare me to me, to look for improvements and self affirmation. -I may even do something cheesy like say: "Wow! good job Jack!!" *3. I dwell on the awkward things I have done. -I will work to catch my inner dialogue and re-write it before it smears all over others. -When I am feeling needy and desperate I will do something I like that will make me actually feel better, such as excersize, make something pretty, dance a little, nap, finish a project, take a bath. 4. I am too quick to judge to work put out by others -I will mentally explore how it might have been to make that work, and think about how I would do it differently instead of how it is "wrong." I hope that by changing this attitude I can re-route the paralyzing fear I have about creating somehting. 5. I don't do things because of fear -I will apply all of the above and hope it helps. -And, perhaps, some relaxing and creative visualization (like they do for people with phobias.)

It has been proposed that in order to keep the website from disarray, someone (probably me, at least at first) become the moderator/ director/ editor of the site so that when people's technical knowledge and different thought patterns are noticeable, said person would be responsible for layout and editing work on the site to make it more cohesive and surf-able. Any concerns? Any Nays?

Even easier go to the page where you want the link to be click on the link button. It will ask you to enter the text you want for the link. Then it will ask you for directions to the link you can then search or start typing the name of the page and it will bring up what it thinks you are looking for.

ah yes communication. I am horrible at it. I either say to much or not enough. What I was trying to ask you was for more clarity in what you were saying. I could really understand the flow you were talking about enough to respond. Not that it needed to be added to the main page but where do these ideas fit in with what we've got. Also feel free to edit a page we can always go back and change it if it doesn't fit.
"a feeling of elgant drama noir with really funny physical comedy at times - maybe this would be a good forum for more political topics, the us foreign policy as a renegade 3 yera0old, the humor of how rediculous the narcissist is when trying to talk the circles of defense around its obsessive self-image; - as well as dry, wry, ironic, and dark humor that runs into the depths of the cacaphony and back out into the almost-knowing that is so unsettling, giving the audience the feeling of almost knowing something but not being able to ever quite see it - "
this definetly speaks to me. The picture I have is something that could be part of the sick and twisted fest. Shadow puppets, tissue artists, dark humor, that uncomfortableness that is inspiring (Fargo or twin peaks ) and not just uncomfortable (Mtv's the real world). These twisting thoughts just came out as the title Commedia Noir. The idea that is probably lost somewhere in the depths of wikiland was to change the structure and make it all about this bumbling narcissist who doesn't think they are doing a thing wrong and that everyone loves them all the while destroying people's lives and causes them to learn these intense lessons. I just found it on the main section under Rough Draft.

guess i have more of an opinion than I thought i would : )
I agree that affluence and also literacy in English afftect peoples ability to participate.
Not sure if you mean accept or except in the second to last sentence. Do you mean except like excuse or accept? Either one works, just wanted to clarify for visualization's sake. The last couple lines feel like they're about to lead into something, maybe this could be another layer in, just leaving the idea of "Narcissm" up to the viewer -uh reader, still.
One of the reasons the global village is growing is because of the use of the english language. Maybe one of the layers of communication - audio synchronizing with some repeated actions, or as an arc over a vignette of some sort. ok, I guess this belongs in another page now.

I didn't include the ability to read English because there are lots of software available to translate websites; I guess maybe I should have included technoliteracy though. Plus I am not sure you could say that I am literate in English. You can pick up a lot by pretending to be educated. Seriously! thank Gaia for spellcheck. ,lol, < I meant accept. > I went to school with this bull dyke. Oh boy did she struggle then i found out she was completely illiterate and was about to graduate. No child left behind huh?
Your last sentence reminds me of the ministry song. "Time keeps ticking away, on this path of damnation. Leading to the path of dismay. Leading to told degradation. Just one fix. (A new World Order)". It is fucked that all we can do is create a global village that isn't theirs because their's is going to happen. Probably does belong on another page perhaps oppression or capitalism or maybe we start a new one Globalization.
Please feel empowered to make changes like the one you have suggested.

I think it is okay to think and discuss a literal backbone to this piece. If we don't talk about it then we won't necessarily understand what someone will actually derive from it upon viewing. We also risk ignoring parts that are actually too literal. I know that I want to tweek this but I want to know what I am tweeking first. Jack it is like the writing class we took where we wrote down something extremely personal and very literal then warped it as much as possible. I would like a writing assignment like that.

this sounds like a fun way to work through some stuck points that will happen in the future. I agree that being to literal is dnagerous and something I've benn known to do before : ) The final piece that is starting to form in my mind has a feeling of elgant drama noir with really funny physical comedy at times - maybe this would be a good forum for more political topics, the us foreign policy as a renegade 3 yera0old, the humor of how rediculous the narcissist is when trying to talk the circles of defense around its obsessive self-image; - as well as dry, wry, ironic, and dark humor that runs into the depths of the cacaphony and back out into the almost-knowing that is so unsettling, giving the audience the feeling of almost knowing something but not being able to ever quite see it -

Hey all,
My first thread! :-) hopefully a short one too... I've looked under 'Team Members' and can't seem to find anyone's profiles... just Smitty's resume. Is there a place to view profiles other than our own? The resume is good to have too... but I would also like to have a less intense way of keeping up with peoples interests and current works in progress....

seeing the wayang puppet pictures I was struck how interesting it could be for the two main characters to be in masks/costumes which are larger than life-size, manipulating the puppets for part of the conversations, then putting them down when they strip away a layer of the destructive narcissism, then strip away the mask for the next level of true emotional vulnerable connection - this together with the projections should give a lot of room for showing how we build layers of protection, self-preservation gone wild, how our personalities add to and reflect the greater culture....

You are like totally pulling the thoughts from my brain, again. I don't think I posted any of them because I got vetoed by Jack, something about it being too literal and needing layers. We should talk about it because I don't think it will be literal, I think it is the way Jack is seeing it. But layers are good to maybe you have some thoughts . We discuss it during the many hours we get to spend hours huddling around a computer with hot coco and tea. (said with a slight tone of sarcasm and excitement.) We should also sit around and read books.

I like these thoughts. I think we were thinking of the people/puppets in the conversations to bounce back and forth. One being the narcissist and then not. So I am thinking we are thinking the same but I am not sure. I think you are talking more about a monologue. I like the interaction of the two characters and them switching roles because it shows that often people have narcissistic tendencies even if they don't think they do or they are involved with someone that does. Often our own narcissism gets trigger by another person's narcissism. I would like to keep playing with this idea. Can you think of a way to bridge the two ideas? I really like that you wrote the other side of the equation and I really want to keep that. I also like the idea of the silk artist interacting with the human puppets. I am not sure how that would happen I will pass it by Jack who is learning the process right now. There was this awesome silk artist but she is going to Australia to study which is awesome but means she won't be available. -Smitty

More Characters
By: ,
Jan 11 2008, 4:27 AM EST
I really want to go with the more characters. Maybe there could be a couple main characters who have to deal with all these DNPs in their life and within themselves. and because each scene only needs have two people in it we really only need three people and we can use puppets and masks to change characters. I guess when we take off the mask that might be a problem but then I think about how a lot of the characters won't ever take off the "mask" and my first idea that we could all have the same face paint. And what am I talking about in the first person, I probably won't be on stage. I don't know I would rather be running the puppets, ect.
