brainstorm #3This is a featured page

After reading the outline for the acts and their scenes, I was thinking how much more creative freedom there would be to take each seperate idea and use it as part of the conversation/actions between the two characters. For example, each character could act out both the unbalanced and balanced aspects of narcissism, and each topic would organically be raised through the dialogue, action, video, etc. The silk dance artist could be interacting at times with the two puppets (or other characters, this is all loose in my mind) in ways that are described as how to sucessfully treat and/or interact/have a relationship with a narcissistic person. Example: I read something about how touching a narcisit on one part of their face (nose I think) would change thier behaviour or at least their thinking, calling thier attention to it. Then another book I've been checking out said something about different lines of questioning that can be used to redirect the narcissist's attention to their skewed version of what's happening. Maybe the silk dancer could interact with the main characters in this way.

I (willow) did some matching of the topics of the scenes in a way that seemed like potential conversation threads that could potentially flow easily. This is just an idea, my first reaction to the scenes was that it could be easy for them to read/feel too scientific or like a list. I know its very early in the development, this is just one idea of something that has potential for more story freedom, if people are interested in creating something like that.

The idea I had of how to read this is that one column is one character and the other column is the other, in a resopnsive dialogue.
Entitlement and Grandiosity - Alturistic endeavors, need to be unique and special
Impoverished Self - Acceptance of self and others
Arrogance; no sense of humor - creativity
Narrow emotions and expressions - Aesthetic appreciation
Lack of empathy - Empathy
Emptiness at one's core - Meaning and purpose in one's life
Inability to recognize or respect - Ability to delay gratification
other's boundaries
Tendancy to be attention seeking - Meaning and purpose in one's life
Hunger for admiration - Ability to form and maintain long lasting relationships
Expecting favors without returning them - Commitment to a relationship

Some of these are simple opposites, so mixing them up more might be even more intriguing. Just an idea, let me know what you think. I'll bring more of my notes with me this week and type them into the computadore.

I like these thoughts. I think we were thinking of the people/puppets in the conversations to bounce back and forth. One being the narcissist and then not. So I am thinking we are thinking the same but I am not sure. I think you are talking more about a monologue. I like the interaction of the two characters and them switching roles because it shows that often people have narcissistic tendencies even if they don't think they do or they are involved with someone that does. Often our own narcissism gets trigger by another person's narcissism. I would like to keep playing with this idea. Can you think of a way to bridge the two ideas? I really like that you wrote the other side of the equation and I really want to keep that. I also like the idea of the silk artist interacting with the human puppets. I am not sure how that would happen I will pass it by Jack who is learning the process right now. There was this awesome silk artist but she is going to Australia to study which is awesome but means she won't be available. -Smitty
