Brainstorming Topic #2:

I was reading some on that web link you listed regarding narcissism, and how people with this disorder can't stand anyone seeing flaws in them, and create this mask of perfection that keeps true connection an impossibility. Sounds a lot like the US in its interaction with the world. I'll keep working on it, that was the part of your initial musings that resonated the most with me, the narcissistic countries and effects of that. I'm thinking it would be more abstract than someone dressed like uncle sam acting like an asshole, something involving forward and rear projection that can show the inner self-view and the projected mask view, with a solid core of action based reality in the center, this could be performers, or props.... also thinking about how traditional music could tie in and say a lot without words, just the emotions evoked by civil war songs or nursery rhyme songs etc can say alot. Of course, the most important thing is how this ties in with the project but I'd love to play around with the idea for the series at the same time.
How narcissim of countires keeps them from admitting what happened, or using political pressure to keep other countries from addressing it (like Turkey with the Armenian genocide) how narcissism makes countries attack other countries for percieved slights or dishonor (9-11) the masks of "the best country in the world" which might have been sort of true at one point, briefly, but is now just a stupid victim stance in the justification of the war on terror - how can anyone attack us when we're so awesome, etc.....

I like where you are going with this. The book I read Narcissism: denial of self love had some ideas on this. I also just got a book called egotopia that I think has some good info. I would like to see some text on the topic. Also if you find text on the websites please copy and paste it somewhere on this site so we can use it. It is easy to create a new page. Go to the page you want it to be a subdirectory of (such as research) then on the right side it says add a new page. If you click this it will place the page as a subdirectory of research and ask you for a name. You can also move pages around but it doesn't seem necessary to me. So when you find a book or a website you want to pull text from just create a new page and paste your text there. Then go back to the main page (research) and write a link in the edit box. Highlght text and click on the link button. THis will allow you to add it as a link. It will ask link to: and there is a button find page. Click on find page and it will list all the pages on the website. Click on the page you created and voila you have created a new page and linked to it.-sm
